Kitimat General Hospital Foundation

Employment Type: Permanent, Part-Time (30 hours per week)
The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation (KGHF) is seeking a passionate, community-minded, and self-driven Executive Director to lead our fundraising efforts, manage day-to-day operations, and work closely with our Board, donors, and healthcare partners to support exceptional care in our community.
The KGHF is a nonprofit registered charity governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our mission is to enhance healthcare in our community by raising funds for advanced medical equipment and services that improve care. We work collaboratively with donors, partners, and healthcare leaders to bridge funding gaps and ensure our hospital can offer high-quality care close to home.
Position Summary:
The ED is the Foundation’s sole staff member and lead representative, responsible for managing daily operations, leading fundraising efforts, and building strong relationships with donors and partners. This role involves close collaboration with the Board of Directors, hospital leadership, the Foundation’s bookkeeper, community stakeholders, and the community’s grant writer. The ED will oversee financial processes, plan events and campaigns, manage communications and outreach, and ensure the Foundation’s mission is carried out with transparency and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Engagement (Top Priority)
- Lead all fundraising and donor engagement efforts, including annual campaigns, grant coordination, and personalized donor outreach
- Work alongside the Board of Directors to support planning and oversight of all fundraising activities
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, local businesses, and community supporters
- Ensure meaningful donor recognition is prioritized and carried out consistently
- Identify and apply for funding opportunities in collaboration with the community’s grant writer
Event & Campaign Leadership
- Plan and execute all fundraising events and campaigns, including budgeting, logistics, sponsorship outreach, volunteer coordination, and follow-up
- Develop and manage social media content and advertising to promote events and campaigns
- Represent the Foundation at community events, media opportunities, and hospital initiatives
Financial Management & Transparency
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, and deposits
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with CRA charitable guidelines and BC gaming regulations
- Collaborate with the Foundation’s bookkeeper on financial reports, budgeting, and payroll
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements to the Board of Directors
Administrative Operations
- Maintain organized digital and physical files, including donor records, policy documents, and reporting requirements
- Coordinate Board meetings: prepare agendas, take minutes, and distribute meeting materials
- Respond to public inquiries and act as the Foundation’s main point of contact
Board & Hospital Collaboration
- Serve as the liaison between the Foundation and Kitimat General Hospital leadership to ensure fundraising aligns with hospital priorities
- Provide ongoing updates and strategic recommendations to the Board
- Strengthen the Foundation’s presence in the community by collaborating with local leaders, partners, and volunteers
Qualifications:
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or office administration
- Experience in financial processes including accounts payable/receivable, deposits, and budgeting
- Experience managing and updating social media platforms and websites
- Proficient with Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Canva
- Proven ability to coordinate fundraising events and build strong donor relationships
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple responsibilities
- Experience collaborating with a grant writer is an asset
- Class 5 Driver’s License is a must
Working Conditions:
- Permanent, part-time position (30 hours per week)
- Office is located at the Kitimat General Hospital
- Flexible schedule, with some evening or weekend for event attendance required
- Occasional local travel within the community for donor meetings or Foundation representation
Renumeration:
- $25-$28 per hour based on experience.
