The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation is VERY excited to announce that the LUCAS Chest Compression System has arrived at our ER!
Thanks to the incredible support from generous donors and fundraisers like the 2024 Smile Cookie Campaign, KGHF Coffee Raffle, and the 2024 Skeena Wild Film & Photo Festival, we’ve been able to bring this life-saving equipment to our community.
The LUCAS system will assist our dedicated ER team by automatically performing chest compressions, allowing our healthcare professionals to focus on other critical tasks and reduces the physical strain on staff, helping to prevent fatigue and injury during prolonged resuscitation efforts. This proven, globally used technology will make a real difference in improving patient outcomes, and our ER staff couldn’t be more thrilled to have it!
Thank you ALL for helping us bring the best care possible to our community!

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing sponsors, we've been able to fund a full year of coffee services for the dedicated staff at Kitimat General Hospital. The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of a brand-new ECG machine for the lab at Kitimat General Hospital! This state-of-the-art equipment is already in use, greatly improving patient access to vital diagnostic testing. The upgrade also enhances lab efficiency, minimizes delays, and ensures top-quality service for patients while creating a better work environment for staff.
The new ECG machine is the same equipment used in the ER, making it easier for staff to work with a single piece of equipment across departments. Additionally, the leads used are compatible with patients coming from outside agencies who are being transferred to a higher level of care, ensuring seamless continuity of care across the community.
A special thank you to LNG Canada, MEMSS Student Council and staff at MEMSS, Ashlee Baer, Paula Tavenor, Anna Krause, Alan & Edna Pfeffer, and Maureen Boguski for their generous donations that made this important upgrade possible.
A heartfelt thank you to our generous donors, Carlyle Shepherd and Marie Striker, for funding a brand new fridge for the acute care staff lounge at the Kitimat General Hospital. This much-needed upgrade ensures the dedicated team has a reliable space to store their meals, drinks, and snacks, helping them maintain their energy and well-being during long shifts. Your support is truly appreciated by all!

The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation is excited to announce that we’ve purchased a reclining and heated massager chair for KGH’s oncology patients thanks to our generous donors! This new addition will give those undergoing treatment a chance to relax and find some comfort during their journey. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
Thank you so much for your generous donation to our Snoezelen Activities Cart. A Snoezelen cart is an activity center designed to alleviate boredom, reduce anxiety, and minimize sundowning in patients. It offers multi-sensory stimulation that engages the primary senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. The cart includes features like soothing lighting, tactile surfaces, calming music, and relaxing essential oils, all aimed at supporting our most vulnerable patients at Kitimat General Hospital. These sensory activities will be utilized by patients with mild to moderate dementia and utilized by residents at Mountainview Lodge, helping to enhance their thinking, mood, and overall participation in daily activities and leisure. Your support is truly appreciated and will make a meaningful difference in their care. We are truly grateful for your commitment to enhancing care in our community.
